PNG Institute of Medical Research
The Papua New Guinea Institute of Medical Research is a world-class research facility investigating ways to improve the health of the people of Papua New Guinea.
The institute was established in 1968 as a statutory body. It reports to the Minister of Health and HIV/AIDS and is governed by an independent Council.
The institute is led by a director, supported by deputy directors for science and corporate affairs.
We employ more than 400 staff at our headquarters located in Goroka and in our research sites, facilities, and laboratories in Alotau, Kokopo, Madang, Maprik, Port Moresby and Wewak.
PNGIMR values our deep partnerships with the Government of Papua New Guinea, the National Department of Health, provincial health authorities, and PNG universities and research organisations. PNGIMR also is committed to working with international researchers and funding bodies to enhance our networks, resources, capabilities and impact.
