New staff

Regina Wangnapi

Dr Regina Wangnapi is a Junior Co-ordinator/Clinician with the new Intermittent Preventive Treatment in Pregnancy (IPTp) study in Madang. She is of mixed parentage from East Sepik and New Ireland.

She joined IMR on the 19th of May 2009 because she was interested in the role of becoming a junior clinician. Before joining IMR she was attached to the Port Moresby General Hospital.

Her scope of responsibilities in the IPTp project will be to coordinate project work with two senior doctors in the study.

 

 

Joanne Lia

Community Health Worker, Joanne Lia of Southern Highlands joined the IPTp project on the 16th of February 2009.

She is a Community health Worker for the IPTp project.

Prior to this she was with the Catholic Health Services. She joined IMR because she was interested to learn many more new things.

Her job involves mother deliveries, assisting antenatal visits and sample collection for the study.

 

 

Martin Uma

Martin Uma of Talasea in the West New Britain Province is a new Nursing Officer attached to the IPTp project in Madang.

Mr Uma joined IMR on the 6th of January, 2009 to learn more about research work.

Before joining with the IMR he was based at the Kimbe General Hospital.

Under the IPTp project he will do awareness work with mothers and help to recruit mothers to the new study.

 

 

Frank Duadak

Frank Duadak joined IMR as a Community Laison Officer attached to the IPTp project on the 27th of July, 2009. .

He originates from Rivo in the Madang Province.

Mr Duadak is involved in working with the community and making them aware of the new project.

 

 

Kevin Sakel

Mr. Kevin Sakel is a community health worker who is no stranger to IMR.

Prior to his employment with the IPTp project he was attached to the Filariais Project (Case Western) at Usino in Madang and Drekikir in East Sepik Province.

Before joining IMR in 2000 he was with the Health Department in the Eastern Highlands.

He is involved in clinical nursing duties for the IPTp project.

 

 

Wanda Jack

To know more on research and prevention of diseases prompted Madang Community Health Worker, Wanda Jack to join IMR on the 13th of July.

She commenced work with IMR as a community health worker on the 24th of July, 2007 before joined the new IPTp project this year.

Her work involves screening patients and collecting samples for the new project.

 

 

Lucy Salangia

Lucy Elizabeth Salangia is a Community Liason Officer for the IPTp project.

She joined IMR on the 27th of August, this year.

Before joining IMR she was working with Monpi Cocoa Exports in Madang.

Her job involves doing community awareness about the IPTp project.

 

 

Oswald Zama

Oswald Yotamoata Zama joined IMR on the 12th of October, this year as a Clinical Research Nurse.

Prior to joining IMR, he was based at Worsera, with the Catholic Health Services.

His work involves collection of blood samples for the IPTp project.

 

 

Cynthia Sawera

East Sepik lass Cynthia Sawera joined IMR on the 5th of April this year as a Community Health Worker attached to the IPTp study.

Before joining IMR she was attending St. Margreth’s School of Nursing in Popondetta.

Her scope of responsibility includes screening, recruiting and enrolling mothers at the clinic site and also at delivery.

 

 

Jenny Timaus

Jenny Timaus joined IMR on the 16th of October this year as a Clinical Nurse for the IPTp project.

She joined IMR because she was interested in learning more skills in research.

Her responsibilities include awareness and recruiting mothers to the study.

 

 

Sheba Kadau

Sheba Kadau comes from Madang and is the new Clinical Nurse for the IPTp project.

Before joining IMR she was with Brian Bell and Company in Madang.She completed her nursing studies at the St Margaret’s School of Nursing in Popondetta.

Her responsibilities include project awareness to mothers and recruiting of mothers for the IPTp project.

 

 

Sunag Damol

Community Health Worker Sunag Damol is from Banub in the Amele District in the Madang Province.

She is attached to the IPTp project in Madang. She is involved in deliveries and antenatal checks for the IPTp project.
