Because of our strong association with TICHR, the Director Prof. Fiona Stanley, who is the current chair of the Buttressing Coalition Partnership, IMR planned for Bob to come for a short visit to provide some coaching and mentoring to some of our middle management and project management staff.

Bob Ginbey has a lot of experience in this area and had been very useful in coaching and mentoring our Goroka, Madang & Maprik staff.

This purpose of the coaching was to identifying and understand each unit’s requiement, by facilitating the exploration of needs, motivations, desires, skills and thought processes to assist the individual staff members (Line Managers & Project Managers) in making real, lasting change. This involved questioning techniques to facilitate the staff’s own thought processes.

Bob also looked at the Institute’s operating systems and procedures and provided guidelines to improve administrative work processes to the staff, through better improved internal and external communications.

At the end of the 4 week program, a workshop was held, led by Bob to mark the overview of the entire coaching and mentoring program. Administration and project coordinating staff expressed concern and enthusiasm on being attached to the program. The Institute thanked Bob for his coming on a volunteer basis and look forward to seeing him again.
