![]() Elias attends workshop in Ghana The INDEPTH Network Secretariat had invited ten of us from different INDEPTH Network sites in Africa, Asia and Oceania to attend a workshop in Ho, Ghana (West Africa) from 18-20 May, 2009.
This workshop is about “how to write a biomedical research paper”. This workshop brings together all INDEPTH young scientists who were funded to the 10th Anniversary AGM of the INDEPTH Network in Dar res Salaam (Tanzania), September 2008. Following our successful submission of our papers to the journal of Tropical Medicine and International Health (TMIH), the INDEPTH Secretariat has been able to arrange with Susanne Groener, the Manager Editor of TMIH journal, to facilitate a three days workshop to help us improve our papers. Am glad to attend this three days intensive workshop as I’ve leant many new things. This workshop gives an insight and guidelines as to how to write good biomedical research papers for publications, thus emphasizing that priority should be focused on publishing research work/results. I’ve also had an honor to meet the Executive Director of INDEPTH Network Secretariat Dr. Osman Sankoh, who has also express interest to visit the Wosera HDSS (PNG) sometime this year (dates not yet confirmed). Finally, the challenge for all of us involved in research work at the institute (PNGIMR) should now be focused on getting our work published (as it would be of great benefit to us individually). Special thanks to Prof. Peter Siba for approving my trip and also to Dickson Kuvi and his team (training committee members) for the efforts. Last but not the least, I would like to thank INDEPTH Secretariat for the travel award which include; paid return ticket, accommodation and a modest per diem for dinner and other incidentals during my stay in Ghana.
