The Enhancing Pregnancy Outcomes (EPO) project has come to a completion.

The EPO project was a partnership between UNICEF, PNGIMR and NDoH to provide and evaluate an intervention for women of reproductive age.

The project commenced on the 1st of June 2006 and ended in 11th of December 2007.

In an 18 month period the study has delivered a number of interventions by distributing bed nets, micronutrients, albendazole and fansidar to improve the health of women within the reproductive age (15-45 years) in the rural areas.

With the direction of PNGIMR Director Professor Peter Siba and a team of hard working IMR staff namely; Emilyn, Gatsia, Grace, Voletta, William, Namrola, Rex, Andrew, Moses, Yalum, Collin, Jack, Felicity, Larry, Nathan and Ali, this project became a success.

The project was officially closed with a small gathering being organised to thank the stakeholders at the district level in Maprik and Esa’ala for their contribution.

A special word of thanks goes to the women who participated in the project and to UNICEFs Dr Anatoly and Dr Kariwiga and NDOH’s Dr Polume for their enormous support.
Thank you all.
