She said the delegation is still talking about the warm welcome they received in the Eastern Highlands.

“The Partnership between the Australian Government and the Institute of Medical Research was an ideal choice in highlighting the positive work underway in addressing PNG’s development challenges,” she said.

She added that Prime Minister Rudd, Parliamentary Secretary for International Development the Honourable Bob McMullen and Parliamentary Secretary for Pacific Island Affairs Honourable Duncan Kerr appreciated seeing Australia’s development program at work.

“We feel they now have a greater understanding of the work our partnership has achieved and is striving to achieve,” she said.

Ms Thomas added that the visit was an overwhelming success promising a bright future of cooperation on many levels between both Governments.

She also mentioned that the Eastern Highlands leg of the visit gained positive media coverage in both PNG and Australia.
