Mothers doing the best for their kids

Safe Motherhood has now become one of the most talked about issues in Papua New Guinea.

With 80 percent of the PNG population living in remote and hard to reach areas, the health services deteriorating and child and pregnancy services increasingly becoming unavailable has impacted upon the increasing number of mothers and children dying from preventable diseases.

Esa’ala as a maritime District is no exception.

In Esa’ala, mothers either paddle for hours to reach the nearest health centre or walk for miles across the mountain ranges and bush tracks, just to access health services.
