PNGIMR's International collaborators included Professor Michael Alpers, Professor Deborah Lehmann, Dr Peter Zimmerman, Dr Heather Wolsworth, Professor James Kazura and others.

Out of the 52 staff, 34 gave presentations in both the main and Bio Medical Symposium meetings. Their presentations varied from social research to clinical research. Five Fogarty honours students also gave presentations and poster presentations and they were marked on them for their honours.

During the final symposium PNGIMR dinner night, the Director of PNGIMR, Professor Peter Siba, congratulated the staff for their contribution towards the Medical Symposium and said that many of the symposium participants spoke highly about the presentations that the IMR staff had done and of the research work that IMR was doing.

I want to commend you all for the effort you put into this years medical symposium, he said.
