New Titles

Molecular Cell Biology, 5th ed./ Lodish H et al, New York, 2004

Molecular cell biology provides a clear introduction to the techniques and experiments of scientists past and present, showing how important discoveries led to the formation the field’s key concepts.

A few of the new experimental methodologies and concepts introduced in this edition includes: explanation of how mass spectrometry is used to identify the components of large multiprotein complexes, the experimental use of RNA interference( RNAi) to block the expression of specific genes in many types of eukaryotic cells and organisms etc.

Molecular biology of the cell, 4th ed./ Alberts B et al, Garland Science, 2002.

The book consists of five chapters which cover different aspects of molecular of the cell. Part 1 covers elementary principles and basic biochemistry.

Part 2 presents the central core of cell biology and is concerned mainly with those properties that are common to most eucaryotic cells.

Part 3 deals with the principles of the main experimental methods for investigating cells. Part 4 discusses the internal organization of the cell.

Practical statistics for field biology, 2nd ed./ Fowler Jim et al, 1998

The book introduces the readers to the principles and methods of statistical analysis allowing them to understand research reports in journals, decide on the most appropriate statistical tests for their own problems and finally to analyse and present their findings.
